Huaraz Tours - Tours in Huaraz
This circuit offers spectacular mountain panoramas of the Cordillera Blanca and the tropic's highest peaks.
On the way we observe native communities and Pre-Inca and Inca archaeological remains.
While enjoying the colourful high Andean flora, we learn about the use of these plants as medicine by local people.
We admire the sight of Huascarán (6768m), Chopicallqui (6354m), Huandoys (6395m; 6356m; 6166m; 6070m), Hualcán (6122m), Chinchey (6222m), Palcaraju (6274m), and Tocllaraju (6034m).

Trekking Alpamayo Huaraz
Our comfortable vehicle takes us via the Pan American Highway along the Pacific Ocean coast, across sand deserts and through coastal valleys to Pativilca. Here we take the Pativilca - Huaraz Highway and drive up into the Andes until we reach Conococha Lake (4,100 masl). Scenic mountains capes announce our arrival to the Callejón de Huaylas Valley between the Cordillera Negra (Black Mountain Range) and the Cordillera Blanca. We continue to Huaraz (3,100 masl), the "Capital of Mountaineering and International Friendship." We overnight at our hotel in Huaraz City.
We drive along the Callejón de Huaylas Valley admiring picturesque villages and the magnificent scenery of the Cordillera Blanca encompassing Peru's highest tropical peaks, among them Huascarán (6,768 masl) and Huandoy (6,395 masl). We arrive at Molinopampa at the beginning of the Pato Canyon. We start our hike in Hualcallan village and continua across the archaeological site Huallcallan and to arrive to Huishcash, where we camp (4,250 masl).
After breakfast we hike along pre inca way toward Cullicocha Lakes (4,625 masl). We enjoy the astonishing panoramic view of Santa Cruz iced peak (6,259 masl). We continue to Cullicocha Pass (4,850 masl). Excellent view of Milluacocha iced peak (5,480 masl), on the way we enjoy the view of ancient’s pre inca terraces. Our camp is set at 4,800 masl.
Today we climb in the Alpamayo gorge. On the other side of the river once again we see ancient agricultural terraces. We continue our ascent along Alpamayo River until we arrive at base camp of Alpamayo. We camp at 4,600 masl. From here we visit Jancarurish lake, and we enjoy the astonishing panoramic view of Alpamayo iced peak, the most beautiful mount. In the afternoon we rest in our camp site.
We ascend the Karakara pass (4,830 masl). Spectacular view some iced peaks such as Quitaraju (6,036 msnm), Santa Cruz, Alpamayo, Jancarurish (5,578 msnm) y Tayapampa (5,657 msnm). We descend afterwards to the Mayobamba Gorge, and climb to Mesapata pass (4,500 masl). We enjoy the view of the iced peaks group of Pucahirca (6,100 msnm), and the beautiful east side of Alpamayo. We descend to the Tayapampa gorge until we arrive at Huillca camp site at 4,000 masl.
This morning we ascend the Yanajanca pass (4,600 masl) hiking along Sactaycocha Lake, and descending to the Jancapampa gorge where we camp (3500 m).
Today we cross the typical Andean village of Pingospampa, and we climb the Tupa tupa pass (4,400 masl). We observe the iced peaks of Taulliraju (5,850 masl) and Pucahirca. We descend to the Quisuar gorge to the Huecrococha lake where we set up our campsite (3950 m).
We ascend the Alto Pucaraju pass (4,650 masl) admiring the peaks such as Taulliraju, Paria and Chacraraju. Then we descend along the ancient pre inka way until Paria where we set up our campsite at 3,800 masl.
We continue along the Huaripampa gorge, crossing the typical Andean villages of Colcabamba (3,300 masl) and Challhuá (3,560 msnm) from where we continue our hike up to Molinopampa. Camp (3,650 masl). We appreciate the iced peak of Contrahierbas (6.030 msnm).
We ascend along Keshu gorge between the forests of queñua, a typical Andean tree. We continue at Mirador. We set up our campsite at 4200m. We appreciate ice avalanches that occur in the Contrahierbas iced peak.
We ascend the Ulta Chico Pass (4,850 masl). We enjoy the view of the iced peaks of Contrahierbas (5,960 masl), Ulta (5,875 masl) and Chopicallqui (6,354 masl. We descend to the Ulta gorge where our car will be waiting to transfer us to Huaraz, and our hotel.
After a relaxing breakfast we return to Lima, carrying with us unforgettable memories of our experiences in the world's largest tropical high-mountain ecosystems and the friendships we built with our adventurous companions on the trails of Cordillera Blanca and the Huascarán Biosphere Reserve. We arrive in Lima in the afternoon.
